Abosede's Story I first became interested in coding when I realized it is becoming very popular and inevitable. Over the years the role of coding kept increasing, penetrating into all sphere of life. To some extent, I feel incapacitated because of my lack of coding skills. Inside me, I know I can understand coding, only if I find a mentor and a platform. Today, I am happy that I found SheCodes. Smartphones are the norms of our days now with countless numbers of applications every now and then. I became interested in coding when I realized that it will transform me from a user/consumer to a creator. Coding skill will help me to understand many other things in this technology based world. I also got very interested in coding after realizing that it will enhance my analytical thinking and my personal and professional skills.

🙋‍♀️ Abosede's Motivation

Coding is a modern and dynamic language, I believe it will help me to serve this present generation better. It will also help me to develop my hidden potential in the highly competitive field of Internet and cyber technology. Another motivation is that SheCodes focus on women, who are often underrated and underprivileged in most countries of the world. A lot of men dominate the IT world today, I will be happy to join the women in the IT field already. I'm impressed with the humanitarian support SheCodes is demonstrating towards refugees and this is another motivation for me. Coming out of this crisis with another skill like coding will be very beneficial to me, and this motivates me. Coding is also an international language. I believe with coding I will become useful to more communities with better job and career opportunities.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
