Fateme's Story I first became interested in coding when I began learning HTML and CSS by myself. I found the whole process of being able to tell a computer what to do very amusing. Additionally, I have a few female friends who have studied computer engineering and they had a great role in urging me forward.

🙋‍♀️ Fateme's Motivation

I believe coding will provide me with new opportunities to grow and expand my knowledge. Also, given the recent technological developments in the fields of AI, machine learning, and programming it seems only logical for me to try and learn coding, both as a hobby and as a new skill that can help me make a living. There are not a lot of good bootcamps available for women in Iran and they are often not taken seriously by the male-dominated sphere in which coding seems to be located. I am positive I could learn and transfer my knowledge to less fortunate women afterwards. So, for me, this is the best opportunity to act upon this wish.

🤹‍♀️ Fateme's Hobbies

My main hobby is reading. I read a lot. I find literature from all over the world (especially Japan) mega interesting. I also like to draw and paint. I consider myself an aspiring writer, I really like writing and I dream of becoming a certified one some time in the future. I like running, it boosts my energy and helps me forget things. Also, I voluntarily teach English to children who cannot afford to attend English classes. I find doing this very rewarding.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
