Jhanelle's Story I think my interest was born in high school when I would create websites for myself and my friends using free website builders online. I always enjoyed putting together the user interface and creating something completely new and fun from my mind. This interest was reignited in 2020 when I joined TikTok. Since then I've seen numerous women post about their lives as coders and I am constantly inspired by how well they have been doing in this male dominated space. I also saw women raving about how Shecodes taught them well and helped them to change careers or progress in their current roles.

🙋‍♀️ Jhanelle's Motivation

I am motivated to provide a better life for myself and my family. I've see how information technology in general is constantly growing and evolving and how applicable it is to every industry. I'm a creative person, but unfortunately that side of me does not get to shine as much as I would like in my current job function as an administrative professional. I would love to become a Front-end Developer or at least posses these skills to grow professionally and be a great asset to my organization and my country.

🤹‍♀️ Jhanelle's Hobbies

As an island girl I enjoy being in nature. Going to the beach, rivers, waterfalls. I also enjoy cooking and creating new dishes. At work, I enjoy creating graphics for my team.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
