Marina's Story I have always been surrounded by IT people) among them were my students who always told me about amazing world of coding. Once I had a group of programmers who involved me into their environment. Since I was convinced that programming is a language I became really interested in it as languages is my obsession.

🙋‍♀️ Marina's Motivation

My name is Maryna. I am from Ukraine and during my entire life I have been teaching English. I was a professional in my area and thought it would last forever. But it happened to be the war in Ukraine and life has become unpredictable. I had to live my country and my habitual life to start a new one from a brand new page. I always taught my students to go ahead and never give up and the most important thing is never stop learning. Now my turn has come and I understand that I have to change my life, go ahead and learn something new for me. I have always loved languages and been interested in their roots and origins. Since I got to know that programming is a language I became interested in how it works and what it consist of. Yet, I know that to survive I need to support myself and my family. And to be able to do this I have to study hard and master the subject I am going to learn to get a well paid job. That is why I have decided to become a professional in the area of programming. Teaching and studying are like two hands which help to survive and live no matter what is going on around you.

🤹‍♀️ Marina's Hobbies

I have lots of hobbies. From doing make up to writing scripts for theatrical performances. But most important is that I try to take my hobbies on the professional level. I got certificates on many of them. I love everything that makes me focused and it doesn't matter if it is making a dreamcatcher or studying psychology or visiting art workshops. I get involved very easily and I don't give up until I get to the top of it.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
