Mercy 's Story My secondary school friend studied coding and is now an entrepreneur because of his knowledge in coding. He has employed other people as well and during the peak of covid 19 pandemic they created an app for tracking cases. My other interest came when I realized that with coding I can be able to create applications that can be helpful in various sectors especially in the rural areas.

🙋‍♀️ Mercy 's Motivation

I ma motivated by the fact that coding may provide me with an opportunity to create afgordable and tailored business management and accounting packages for small scale to medium scale businesses thereby giving them an opportunity to be able to track and manage their business information as well as be in a position to access loans from banks and other financial institutions that only lends to organized businesses. I may also be able to provide data management systems for rural community health structures so that they can be able to centrally manage their data properly instead of using manually. This will also give me an opportunity to get extra income to support my family.

🤹‍♀️ Mercy 's Hobbies

My biggest hobby is reading and collecting books. I also like to sing whenever I can.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
