Phuong Ha's Story Well, it's been I am learning code after work by myself, especially python. I also tried a bit solidity and java for android but i gave it up after a while. Before I was already doing some VBA and I have used it continuously at work, I just love how code give you the felling to have great power. It gives you the felling to be a craftsman in something, which you don’t get when you are an marketing or a sales executives in a huge company, also the communities are huge, it is like belonging to something. I have always been interested in everything related to text mining / text generation since I have heard of it, but I did not see any easy path to go from business school to this. To train, I am generally interested in creating my own programs rather than working on bootcamps. It gives me ideas of projects, the more I know the more I want to learn. The issue is that I am sometimes a bit stuck for months as I am alone and I can only ask stuff to stack overflow (for which I barely get answers). Before I start learn programming seriously I was thinking like will programming is easy, I’m gonna learn it fast and they always said that that language called Python is so easy to learn and stuff, but when I got into programming I was like seeing a river that never ends like never. Therefore, I’d like to be more helped in this.

🙋‍♀️ Phuong Ha's Motivation

The reason why I fell in love with computers is simply because it responds to me. I'm naturally very curious and creative so I needed something to keep my restless mind going and I found computers to be the answer. My motivation is simply my restless mind. I need to keep learning. I can't remain dormant. I need to learn a new programming language now and then, a new framework, a new library. Bascially, I don't even have a CS degree. And everything I learned about computers and software development was all by myself. I'm my own personal teacher. I'm almost an auto-didact whenever it comes to learning anything especially computer related. So, I pick up stuffs real fast. Coding is an essential skill in the future as it is part of the digital transformation. Additionally, I think it will help me to hone my skills by trying to solve difficult problems, which is essential for my future work life. Programming is fundamentally about creating solutions to problems. At the end of the day, I have created something that didn't exist that morning, and that is in and of itself satisfying.

🤹‍♀️ Phuong Ha's Hobbies

I love reading books and watching TV shows. Sometimes, I also go outside to have dinner with my friends.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
