Salva's Story I have always loved design; not the design to look at but the functional one. In my career, I reached a point that I felt I can do more than what I was doing. Also, my family life was falling apart because of my job. So, I decided to change my career. I have been considering UX recently but I feel just designing things is not enough for me. I want to be the one who builds things and enjoy my freedom in creativity. Nonetheless, coding always looked intimidating until I took part in Matt’s free workshop. I really enjoyed Matt coding. That was fascinating. It actually made sense.

🙋‍♀️ Salva's Motivation

First and foremost, SheCodes has a unique hands-on, make-it-easy approach in its teachings. I enjoy practical teaching and learning. Also, I have to admit coding always looked intimidating for me. I have been told that it is a man job since it deals with math and lots of analysis. However, after watching Matt do the coding in the free workshop, I feel the desire to experience it myself. He made it so easy that I feel I can do that, too. It is not intimidating with SheCodes. Second, SheCodes is offering a great opportunity to me as an Iranian and doesn’t exclude me just because of my nationality. I cannot even open some websites just because I’m an Iranian. It is not my fault that I have been born in Iran. It’s not fair. Third, SheCodes has earned a prestigious reputation among employers. Having been trained by SheCodes, I could have more employment opportunities. Last but not least, I feel positive vibes when I visit SheCodes website. It is not strict or dreary like other coding websites. SheCodes is kind and makes sure you are in good hands.

🤹‍♀️ Salva's Hobbies

My pass time activities include reading books, designing in Photoshop and Figma, and dress making. I have a big dream of making apps all by myself and make it one of my hobbies.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
