Sharon's Story It was through my friends who do it as a career and also loving things to do with technology. Most people who I know who've done coding have really nice careers and are able to help their families. It was also through my aunt who suggested I check it out to see if I'd be interested and I did and became interested. Here in Kenya, job opportunities are scarce and hence youth have no jobs, but in the programming/coding sector there are job opportunities but to achieve this one has to do it in school eg:university

🙋‍♀️ Sharon's Motivation

It seems like a very interesting course to learn and also my friends who've pursued it have nice jobs and can fend for themselves and for their families. This is really motivating considering they're as young as I am. It also has a wide market unlike other courses yet it is learnt in a short period of time.

🤹‍♀️ Sharon's Hobbies

I sing and play piano. I've been lucky enough to perform for various people. I also play basketball, swim and play video games

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
