Sindiswa's Story I started my career in a graduate program as an analyst at the biggest bank in Africa which necessitated that I learn how to use SQL, because of the volume of data that we worked with. I realized that I have a good understanding of databases and how data should be managed so I took an in house SQL course, tried to learn Python programming and also got the Certified Data Management Professional certification to fast track my learning. I am aware of the fact the Accountants and Economists of the future will need to have advanced technology skills as we move to the cloud and automate most of the manual processes. I want to be ahead of the curve and not be reactive to the changes in our way of work. I want to be at the forefront of change and be able to create and lead robust analysis of of data.

🙋‍♀️ Sindiswa's Motivation

I am not from a traditional technical academic background and I think that not enough women are playing in that space especially in Africa. I see myself as a leader and game changer and I want to lead by example while setting myself apart in my field by growing and immersing myself in the Technology and Data space.I am interested in the knowledge that I will gain as I see myself as a product manager in the future.

🤹‍♀️ Sindiswa's Hobbies

I try to keep my self fit by going to gym, running (21km and less). During the pandemic I started swimming school and have incorporated that to my hobbies. I also like walking in the park or at the botanical gardens. I play tennis, squash and table tennis with my friends and have played these sports since high school. I also learn languages for fun and so far have taken a course in German and Italian. I am an avid traveler and I want to see more of the work and learn about different cultures.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
