Susan's Story I work as a receptionist in an organization that most of its work entails using automated tools. Most of the people that were operating the tools are men. I hence asked one of them what it takes to be like them and they advised I have to get the skills. I have been googling and you tubing but most of them are a bit hand. I thought of enrolling in face to face class but it was also expensive. But I was certain that I will could one day pay for the class though I have been facing financial difficulties.

🙋‍♀️ Susan's Motivation

My motivation lies behind my zeal for learning new things, I'm a lady who is passionate about education hence I would like to learn more about coding and gain more knowledge. I love technology but the area that I come from in Kenya(Turkana), getting basic education is very expensive. The community does not value girl child education. To get the basic education that I have currently I have had to fight so many odds. I really want to learn the coding program because am sure it will open many opportunities for me and my family. I will also be able to motivate other young girls in my community that it is possible to achieve what they want as long as they are determined

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
