Yolanda's Story I have always wonder what makes some apps so special. What is the thinking process, the logic behind it? It amazes me that you could build almost anything by putting logic to it and if you think hard enough and understands who you are building this for you can solve a lot of challenges!

🙋‍♀️ Yolanda's Motivation

I have 2 motivations to learn how to code. The first one is that think that a lot of the issues of the world can be solved through tech and I Imagine a world where we can use software development to solve challenges that different countries are facing. For example, I am from Colombia. Our farmers are very valuable for the country but right now, all their products are sold to distributors that sell to other distributors and the farmers end up getting pay way less than they deserve because distributors are their only sales channel and they take most of the profits. I wish people could buy directly to all of them through technology and that this can be build up in a way that also works for them so they get fair pay for their job. My dream is able to propose solutions to solve the challenges that my country is facing. The second reason is to level up my career. I am passionate about Digital Marketing and Design and I think when you understand how code works you are able to propose different solutions for online campaigns, UX design, etc. You also can have better synergy with developers when you understand their job and get better results.

🤹‍♀️ Yolanda's Hobbies

I love editing videos and photography. I also love writing stories and tell my friends to be actors for my script. I also love cooking and food (who does not love food!?) I used to have a blog in college where I used to write reviews of restaurants and write about cooking-related things I love baking cheesecake! I practice kickboxing, is a way to clear up my head and feel less stress!

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
