Abasiama's Story I became interested when I read stories of young African girls excelling in tech I was moved to ask what coding is coming from a back ground that I wasn't privilege to learn and make use of tech gadgets.I thought getting a knowledge about it will help me improve and give back to the society.

🙋‍♀️ Abasiama's Motivation

The world is digital today and there is a need for everyone to stay abreast of innovative inventions and the ease tech has brought.Covid19 pandemic made me realize this more than ever. The knowledge of this made me understand that I need to upskill .I had loved computers and the way tech works I was always intrigued growing ,even now . As a kid growing up I didn't get the opportunity to use and understand tech gadgets my parents were too poor to get me any one (I was privileged to see a computer for the first time in my cousins home as a child )and I desired to know how they work to better the world because we grew in the ghetto where most of this things were not available to the children in the slum due to poverty. But I believe shecode foundation has come to help me learn unlearn and relearn so I can use the knowledge to better lifes and to give back to the society.

🤹‍♀️ Abasiama's Hobbies

I love to sing and learn something new on the Internet ( Why I like to surf the net when I have little data or when I can access free WiFi in some areas here ).

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
