Amile's Story Coding has been an increasingly popular word in South Africa, sounds intimidating too, but I'm naturally curious, so I did some research at the library and found out it's the making of a sequence of instructions in a programming language for a computer to follow to execute tasks. Although it seemed out of reach for me, the thought of it did excite me enough to ask the librarian to help me look for a free course that I could enroll in to further pursue this interest.

🙋‍♀️ Amile's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes comes from a combination of personal and professional aspirations. Primarily, I'm interested in coding because it offers a powerful means of creative expression and problem-solving, and I enjoy solving problems, especially when creativity is involved. The tech industry is constantly changing, presenting endless opportunities to solve modern-day problems, and I feel the thrill of this industry is best suited for me and my curiosity. I'd love to help my family out of our financial constraints while doing something that I enjoy, if there's a chance for me to. I believe this is my chance.

🤹‍♀️ Amile's Hobbies

I make whatever is accessible to me my hobby, but the library is my best escape. I find great pleasure in reading the offerings of great minds. I also love gardening, an interest passed down to me by my late grandmother.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
