Andiswa Alicia's Story My interest with coding began when I got my first phone. I was always curious on how the phone was able to work the way it did. When i learned that my Android phone had apps that an iPhone didn't have I wanted to know why and how it was possible for them to be similar but yet so different. After that I really wanted to be able to create something like that as well.

🙋‍♀️ Andiswa Alicia's Motivation

My motivation is that i want to learn more about software and web development. I also want to be able to provide my family with a better life that includes having financial security and not having to worry about what we're going eat and not having to pick which debts should we pay for in order to be able to have enough money to last us till the next payday.

🤹‍♀️ Andiswa Alicia's Hobbies

I spend my reading mystery/crime novels, i like putting together the clues or pieces and figuring out who is guilty.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
