Awethu's Story My interest in coding sparked back in primary school during our computer lessons. I found myself drawn to the tasks and excelled at completing them, consistently achieving high grades. This early success ignited my passion for using computers and exploring their capabilities. In high school, a family friend recognized my enthusiasm for working with computers and introduced me to coding. However, despite my initial curiosity, I was deterred by their warnings about the challenges and complexities of coding. Nevertheless, the seed of curiosity was planted, and now I'm ready to overcome those fears and dive into the world of coding with SheCodes.

I've always been passionate about technology and fascinated by the endless possibilities it offers. However, despite this passion, I've hesitated to dive into coding because of the difficult complexity often associated with it. The fear of not being able to grasp it held me back for so long. However now, I'm taking a leap of faith and conquering those fears. I see that SheCodes provides a supportive environment where I can learn at my own pace and gain the confidence and skills needed to pursue my career goals in technology. It's a thrilling journey of personal and professional growth, and I'm ready to embrace it wholeheartedly.

🤹‍♀️ Awethu's Hobbies

I have a few hobbies that bring me joy and relaxation. One of my favorite activities is cooking and baking. I find solace and creativity in the kitchen, and it's truly one of my safe spaces where I can experiment with flavors and recipes. Additionally, I love immersing myself in fun experiences, whether it's going to the fun fair or exploring new places. Anything that ignites my inner child and sparks a sense of wonder and excitement is right up my alley. Exploring different places, trying new foods, and soaking up the atmosphere of new environments are all things that I thoroughly enjoy.

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
