Benafsha's Story My journey into coding began with curiosity and determination. Despite not having formal access to education, I hungered for knowledge. Here’s how it unfolded: Curiosity Ignited: Growing up, I was fascinated by technology—the way it connected people, bridged gaps, and transformed lives. I wanted to understand the magic behind it all. So, armed with an old laptop and sheer curiosity, I embarked on my coding adventure. Self-Driven Learning: Without formal courses or degrees, I turned to online resources. The internet became my virtual classroom. I devoured tutorials, read documentation, and experimented with code. Each line I wrote felt like a step toward empowerment. INMy coding journey began with curiosity and determination despite not having formal access to education. I was fascinated by technology and wanted to understand how it connected people, bridged gaps, and transformed lives. Using an old laptop, I started learning to code through online resources.

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is multifaceted: Empowerment: I believe that coding is a superpower. By acquiring coding skills, I gain the ability to create, innovate, and solve real-world problems. It empowers me to turn ideas into reality. Career Opportunities: The tech industry is dynamic and ever-expanding. Learning to code opens doors to exciting career opportunities. Whether I want to become a front-end developer, data scientist, or build my own startup, coding skills are essential. Understanding the Digital World: Coding demystifies the digital landscape. It allows me to understand how websites, apps, and software function behind the scenes. This knowledge enhances my digital literacy.

Benafsha has gained access to SheCodes Plus for at no cost. It’s a 4 month coding training that’ll take her from a beginner to a professional.

She'll learn popular technologies, from HTML, CSS, JavaScript and development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
