Boingotlo's Story I’ve always liked working with computers but I was discouraged because I don’t have a strong mathematical background. This year I decided that I will learn. I’ll code and I’ll do it against all odds and when I attended the free lecture Matt mentioned how you do not need to be good in mathematics. I am eager to learn how to code and be in the tech industry. Inspiring young black girls like myself that it is possible.

🙋‍♀️ Boingotlo's Motivation

Firstly for the fact that it is for women makes me so excited. Women have been discriminated against just because they are women and this organisation is changing that and I was to be apart of the change. I was to be in the tech world and this is the perfect opportunity also the rating being 4.9/5 is impeccable as well as the success stories. I was to be a part of the people who share their stories and encourages girls especially from disadvantaged backgrounds like myself.

🤹‍♀️ Boingotlo's Hobbies

I really enjoy reading a good book, especially African Literature. I do not think we get enough exposure especially as Africans. I love going to the gym and working out there is so much peace there. I’ve also developed an interest into looking at coding and learning such small courses but due to financial constraints I am unable to.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
