Botho Queen's Story I became interested in coding through my best friend who is currently living in another country. She called me one day and explained to me the importance of increasing ones skills. My friend is currently working in the tech industry in Nigeria so she has really been trying to push me to apply for short courses.

🙋‍♀️ Botho Queen's Motivation

I saw I short video whilst scrolling through social media and I was immediately interested because I’ve been looking into doing some tech courses but couldn’t afford it. Growing up, I felt like coding and tech in general was for males. A lot of females are proving to me that the stereotype is wrong. I want to prove to myself, especially my younger self, that I can do it. These are proving to be more marketable in the work field and I believe it would be a great addition to my skills. I’m currently unemployed with a degree and to be honest, it can be very depressing, so this would increase my chances of actually getting a job.

🤹‍♀️ Botho Queen's Hobbies

I love traveling and learning about new cultures and people in general. I enjoy reading self development books as they really help me overcome some of my weaknesses.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
