Catheriine's Story I got interested in coding in my S6 vacation after applying for software Engineering at Makerere university on government sponsorship and later got it, So I started by learning C language and my interest increased as we started web development. After learning web-development I created a website godtechultd.com for the godtech Company and they paid me my first salary in year one , so my interest for learning more coding and programming increased greatly.I have also been motivated by other Women that in the same field of Software Engineering especially my lecture Nsabagwa Mary Co-founder UMIEA ICT Uganda , and I also participated in the GirlsICTWeek program at Makerere university, so the interest increases daily
My passion for coding and technology, and also improving my career path and opportunities in the field of Software Engineering. Being a woman is most African countries especially Uganda is looked at as not a blessed as many women are termed to be only for the kitchen and house wives, seeing men only engaging themselves in technology and leaving out women, motivated me to do software Engineering since "what a man can do, a woman can do", I would also like to be good in writing real time applications that can solve some of the problems we are facing in the world today and empower more young women in uganda to engage themselves in the technology especially coding and know that technology is useful and a necessity for everyone in our daily lives.
