🙋‍♀️ Catheriine's Motivation

My passion for coding and technology, and also improving my career path and opportunities in the field of Software Engineering. Being a woman is most African countries especially Uganda is looked at as not a blessed as many women are termed to be only for the kitchen and house wives, seeing men only engaging themselves in technology and leaving out women, motivated me to do software Engineering since "what a man can do, a woman can do", I would also like to be good in writing real time applications that can solve some of the problems we are facing in the world today and empower more young women in uganda to engage themselves in the technology especially coding and know that technology is useful and a necessity for everyone in our daily lives.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
