Chutima's Story 2. It all started when I was 10 years old, when I first doing HTML and CCC coding to design my blog. (I was so amazed in myself looking back to that little girl.) My mom also inspired me as she used to work in the IT field of a hospital in Thailand She even created the electronic medical records system! Unfortunately, during that period, coding was not properly support in the society as Thai people only admired and appreciated the physicians and the medical personnels. We could not sustain our lives with such a low wage working in IT section, the only field involving with coding back then. In the end, I did not dare to be against my parents as I totally understood their worries.

🙋‍♀️ Chutima's Motivation

I have passion in creating online platform to support speech-language pathologists (my profession) in Thailand in various ways. First of all, I would like to create websites to support tele-therapy. From my experience, online session helps increase follow-up intervals and decrease patient’s expense for transportation and medical cost, especially for those who struggle with financial barrier. Plus, my profession in Thailand does not advance much in terms of technology and online platform so I would like to help develop the system to support my professional organization and colleagues in overall. Another reason is that I am doing my masters in clinical linguistics and will have my first-ever python class next year! I am very excited but also afraid in the meantime as I have not involved in coding for donkey’s years. Hence, I would like to learn coding from SheCodes.

🤹‍♀️ Chutima's Hobbies

3. I love meeting people and learn from their experiences and perspective. I would appoint my acquaintances or colleagues to have a walk in the park or public areas around once a week. I also love wandering around new venues in Bangkok to discover the venues I have never been to. My friends appraise me for my photography skill so I it might be fair to say (mobile) photography is one of my hobbies. Apart from that, I love reading motivating books and scientific-finding articles. In every moment, I love playing random Spotify playlists to build up my mood as well.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
