Funmilayo's Story My interest in coding started when I was curious about how things work on computers. I remember playing games and wondering, "How did someone make this?" That curiosity led me to try a beginner coding tutorial. At first, it felt overwhelming, but as I typed the code and saw something simple come to life on the screen, it was like solving a puzzle. I wasn't an expert, but that moment of creating something from scratch hooked me. It made me feel like I had a superpower – the ability to tell the computer what to do. As a novice, I enjoy the challenge of learning step by step. Even when I make mistakes, each one is a chance to figure out what went wrong and improve. The coding community is supportive, and there are always resources for beginners. It's not about being perfect; it's about the joy of making things happen. I might be a novice now, but I'm excited to keep learning and see where coding takes me.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
