Helia's Story I have been facing many challenges that requires coding skill to resolve them, such as building websites for my business, or even automatize my business functions, although there are professionals there who knows how to code, I thought it would be better if I can learn the skills myself, since this is a very versatile skill I could use it to optimize many business functions and also provide my services to other who requires them.

🙋‍♀️ Helia's Motivation

I would like to learn to code firstly because I realized that it is a needed skill now a days, hence to continue relevant in the professional sphere, one needs to learn tech skills, and therefore I thought it would be important to learn coding, moreover, I am looking to transitioning from my previous career in business management to something more tech related. I then started to search in the internet and it was when I come across this opportunity provided by “She Codes” , which I think it would be the perfect training provider for me to achieve my goals because through the foundation I could access the training which otherwise I couldn’t afford. I also am encouraged to participate in this training because it gives opportunity to African women, therefore it might help us to contribute to our countries to close the gender gap in the tech industry.

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
