Izamar's Story Since I was in high school I have had an interest in computer science and coding, getting certified in these areas is a huge opportunity for me. My motivation is my own development to achieve a better future also to make my parents proud. In my community not many have had the opportunity to finish their studies, there are many families who cannot afford education. I thank foundations like Shecodes because they help women to improve their knowledge and overcome illiteracy. In Nicaragua there are few institutions that offer this type of education for free usually they have high prices that we cannot pay. By obtaining this I will be able to get a better job, participate in different projects and empower women in my community by showing them that we are capable of achieving anything.

🙋‍♀️ Izamar's Motivation

From the beginning, technology has been fundamental for the development of humanity in different areas such as medicine, transportation, means of communication and to satisfy our necessities and entertainment, for this reason I have the need to adapt to the changes and gain more knowledge. As a woman from a developing country, it inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and acquire coding skills. I find it fascinating to learn coding as it will help me in my professional career. I am currently studying Marketing, I work with websites, sharing information and designing. Programming is very important to me as I will be working with technology every day.

🤹‍♀️ Izamar's Hobbies

I love learning new things, I consider myself a creative person. I spend my days drawing or taking pictures. I am very interested in learning languages and about different cultures. I like going out with my friends, meeting new people all the time. Something else is that I like to inspire others to follow their dreams and not to give up.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
