Jocy's Story - My fascination with computer science began at a young age. Unfortunately, due to financial limitations and a lack of readily available resources in my community, I wasn't able to formally pursue this interest earlier. - One turning point came while attending Deeku Education Center. A guest speaker with a Master's degree in Computer Science introduced us to the world of the internet and coding through a knowledge-sharing session. This experience solidified my desire to delve deeper into the world of code. - A few months ago, I embarked on my coding journey through online resources. While this initial exploration has fueled my passion, I now recognize the value of a structured learning approach. I am eager to transition from self-study to a more systematic step-by-step process that provides valuable guidance. Participating in the recent 60-minute SheCodes workshop further solidified my determination to pursue this path. I am incredibly excited to embark on this coding journey and can't wait to delve deeper into this fascinating field.

🙋‍♀️ Jocy's Motivation

- In my role as a teacher trainer within my community, my commitment lies in advancing education to be equitable, qualitative, and inclusive, harnessing the power of technology as a key enabler. Becoming a technology specialist has been a long-held dream, but various circumstances prevented me from pursuing coding knowledge earlier. - Fortunately, "SheCodes" presents an ideal solution. Their program offers both flexibility – crucial for balancing my current responsibilities – and a solid foundation in coding until professional. This empowers me to not only acquire knowledge but also translate my vision of a technology-driven, equitable education system into practical action.

🤹‍♀️ Jocy's Hobbies

My hobby lies in unrestricted creation and entrepreneurship. I thrive on freely expressing my ideas and using them to positively impact others. This is what truly brings me joy: combining creativity with initiative to launch something new and make a positive difference in the world.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
