KHUNN SINT SHWE 's Story My interest in coding began with a few hours of free classes on HTML and CSS in 2021. It was a simple introduction, yet it sparked a profound interest in me. What truly captivated me was the instructor, a remarkably young individual not even 18 yet, who had already ventured into the world of UI/UX design for overseas clients. Their expertise and enthusiasm ignited a passion within me to explore deeper into the field of coding. Growing up, I was naturally drawn to gaming consoles, computers, and laptops, intrigued by their intricate workings from a young age. I was fascinated at how technology permeated every aspect of our lives, from ATMs to e-tickets and online shopping. The internet, in particular, became an indispensable tool, opening doors to endless possibilities and opportunities. With each interaction and discovery, my curiosity for coding intensified. I realised its potential to shape the future and drive meaningful change. Now, fueled by a desire to turn my passion into a profession, I am eager to embark on this journey into the tech industry.

Coding not only equips me with the means to create innovative learning resources but also empowers my students to become digitally literate global citizens. My previous exposure to HTML and CSS during the Crises in 2020 in Myanmar sparked my interest in coding, and now, I aspire to transition into the tech industry as a professional. With SheCodes, I seek to build a solid foundation in coding, unlock new career pathways, and contribute meaningfully to the development of digital solutions that promote gender equality and educational equity on a global scale.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
