Lebogang's Story Coding sparked my interest when I was scrolling on tik tok then someone started talking about it, how enjoyable it is and the career opportunities it provided. I initially was intrigued about the different languages however not to a point that I could act on it, however the tik tok video just sparked an interest to improve myself and raise the chances to get employed as the rate of employment in South Africa is low

🙋‍♀️ Lebogang's Motivation

As a mechanical engineering student, my motivation for learning to code with SheCodes stems from various reasons. Firstly, I recognize the increasing importance of coding skills in the field of engineering. Automation, simulation, and optimization are becoming integral parts of mechanical engineering, and coding proficiency can greatly enhance my ability to design and analyze complex systems. Moreover, I see coding as a gateway to interdisciplinary collaboration. Many cutting-edge projects in robotics, mechatronics, and automation require a combination of mechanical engineering principles and software development expertise. By learning to code, I can expand my skill set and collaborate more effectively with professionals from other disciplines. Additionally, I'm motivated by the prospect of enhancing my career opportunities. Coding skills are highly valued in the engineering job market, and they can set me apart from other candidates when seeking internships or entry-level positions. It could generally help me get a jo which can help me when it comes to changing my background and being able to bring in money for needs like groceries.

Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
