Leseli's Story Interesting enough, my younger sister who is 11 years old got me intrigued. She was chosen at her school to participate in a program that was teaching young kids how to code and she would show me what she learnt in a particular lesson, and she would show me how to achieve certain things in programming. So, in a nutshell, my 11-year-old sister inspired me.

🙋‍♀️ Leseli's Motivation

I want to expand my professional skill sets. I am professionally trained in the health system, and I realized that a lot of the systems that are used in the hospital setting require some sort of programming. I want to learn how to code through SheCodes because it prioritizes women and it will equip me with a whole different new set of skills that I can use in my workplace.

🤹‍♀️ Leseli's Hobbies

I am a big reader but also, I enjoy running. I do not run competitively because I feel it takes out the fun part of it. So, I usually just run by myself and it's also not to achieve a certain goal, but I enjoy being outside and being able to combine the two has been pleasant.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
