Lida's Story I got interested in coding because I saw how amazing technology is and how it can change things for the better. Even though I grew up with limited resources in Afghanistan, I always liked computers. When I found out about coding, I was excited because it felt like learning a secret language that lets you create cool stuff on a computer. I realized that coding isn't just fun—it's also a way to make a living and help others. It can open doors to new opportunities and let me do things I never thought possible. So, I became passionate about coding and decided to learn it, no matter what obstacles came my way.

🙋‍♀️ Lida's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes stems from a deep desire to empower myself and secure a brighter future despite the challenges I face as an Afghan woman living in Turkey after the collapse of the government in Afghanistan. With limited access to higher education and minimal support from the government, learning how to code through SheCodes offers me an invaluable opportunity to acquire a professional skill that not only aligns with my passion for technology but also opens doors to economic independence and stability. By mastering coding skills, I can not only pursue a fulfilling career but also contribute to the advancement of technology both locally and globally. SheCodes represents a beacon of hope, providing me with the resources and support I need to turn my dreams into reality and build a better future for myself and my community.

🤹‍♀️ Lida's Hobbies

Some of my hobbies include designing, decoration, going to the gym, experimenting with makeup, reading books, and swimming. Designing allows me to express my creativity and bring ideas to life, whether it's through graphic design, fashion design, or interior design. I also enjoy decorating spaces, finding joy in transforming ordinary places into beautiful and inviting environments. Heading to the gym is another hobby of mine, where I can stay active, work on my fitness goals, and clear my mind. Experimenting with makeup is a fun way for me to express myself creatively and enhance my features. It's like painting a canvas but with my face as the palette. Reading books is a passion of mine that transports me to different worlds, expands my knowledge, and provides endless entertainment and inspiration. Lastly, swimming is a refreshing and invigorating hobby that allows me to stay active while enjoying the soothing sensation of being in the water. Whether it's swimming laps for exercise or simply floating and relaxing, it's a hobby that brings me joy and serenity.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
