Lisa Donyah's Story I became interested at the age of 13 in coding after our robotic teacher showed us how to use AI to solve daily problems. One year later, I tried to make my first website by using a book. Months later, I had my first programming class and became even more interested. I became friends with a few classmates who wanted to make video games and it made me realize how much people could do with coding.

🙋‍♀️ Lisa Donyah's Motivation

I've been searching for an adequate online coding program for a while and recently found out about SheCodes. I live in Haiti and the situation of our country is pretty desperate right now. And it offers very few opportunities for young people like me. There is a lack of institutions and the streets are not safe - people die every day going out. I want to study Computer Science and become a Software Developer. My goal is to acquire enough knowledge in the field to become a professional and provide a better life for my family, while I'm at home.

🤹‍♀️ Lisa Donyah's Hobbies

I have many hobbies. I am an avid reader, I grew up as a bookworm. I also like to draw traditionally and digitally and use my creative skills to think about creative web designs. I also love dancing and listening to a wide variety of music. Sometimes, I also try to pick up foreign languages.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
