Lorraine's Story I've always been curious about how systems and websites are made. One day in high school, some ladies and a guy came to talk to us about careers. I had recently learned about the term "full stack developer" and thought it would be impossible for a woman to hold such a position. They said that one of them was a Google recruiter and the other was a full stack developer. I was so challenged by these women that my curiosity grew and I made a promise to myself that one day I would become one of the great women in tech.

🙋‍♀️ Lorraine's Motivation

I'm motivated to learn coding because I'm passionate about technology and dream of joining the community of tech-savvy women in Africa. Coding, to me, is a creative and problem-solving outlet that allows me to bring ideas to life and contribute to future advancements. I'm inspired by the achievements of women in tech, and by learning to code, I aim to be part of this empowering journey and help build a more inclusive tech landscape in Africa.

🤹‍♀️ Lorraine's Hobbies

I enjoy interacting with people, singing, coding, and learning new things and places.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
