Lunga's Story I studied at Curtis Nkondo School of Specilisation a school where IT was compulsory as a subject, I remember in grade 10 being given a project to create a game of our own and that needed coding. It was really challenging but with help of my classmates we managed to do the game. With hard work and team work anything is possible and I believe in the IT industry team work is the key. From then I asked myself what more can I do if I can create a game? That’s how I became interested

🙋‍♀️ Lunga's Motivation

To be honest I never imagined myself In the coding industry until i came across videos of inspiring young women in tech especially black young women, they are very inspiring, from watching and coming across those videos I knew right then it was a sign to go after coding. I fell in love with IT and I started researching more about IT and I came across a video on TikTok of a young lady talking about coding. I made more research about coding and finding out you can actually learn coding at home with YouTube videos. The demand of programmers is very high all over the world especially women. After looking into coding on YouTube I came across a video of a girl called Tanaka Dhliwayo she explained about shecodes and how she is now an expert of coding, I then took time to apply.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
