Lusanda's Story My interest in coding sparked when I began my current course, Diploma in ICT. I've been captivated by how technology can tackle complex issues and enhance lives. Exploring coding tutorials and researching different languages, I realized its broad applications—from web development to artificial intelligence. Alongside my coding passion, I'm dedicated to promoting gender equality in tech. I believe learning to code enables me to help bridge the gender gap and open doors for women worldwide.

🙋‍♀️ Lusanda's Motivation

. I have three main reasons for wanting to learn how to code with SheCodes. First, I aim to enhance my value to myself and potential employers by acquiring coding skills, which are highly sought after in today's job market. Second, I'm inspired by technology's potential to bring about positive change and want to contribute to this by creating innovative products. Lastly, I'm drawn to SheCodes Foundation's mission of offering free coding education to women in developing countries and refugees, aligning with my passion for empowering women and narrowing the gender gap in tech. Alongside my motivation, I possess qualities such as being a quick learner, dedicated student, and creative problem-solver, which I believe, combined with SheCodes' support, will lead to success in my coding journey and meaningful contributions to the tech industry.

🤹‍♀️ Lusanda's Hobbies

I play hockey at my university. I am part of the students who are in the Geekulcha organization, It is a South African-based organization that aims to build and support tech and innovation leadership on university campuses. It's mission is to create an enabling environment for technology innovation by bringing together research, development, and innovation communities, technology SMMEs, industry, and government. The organization offers a range of programs and initiatives to support this mission, including hackathons, coding retreats, and training sessions.

🎯

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
