mahlet's Story As a young girl from a third world country, I would never forget the feeling I had when I print my first 'Hello World !' it was great but, the coolest thing ever was to see my mom's proud face every time I learned something new . In addition to my interest I have always been so motivated by my IT teacher , who currently got a promising career on web development. I remember him showing us cool things on his computer. For me he was the first person to open my door towards coding.

🙋‍♀️ mahlet's Motivation

I am recently a Computer Engineering student at the university of Bahir Dar , but I have learned the hard way that , what we learn in class isn't what is out in the world, which makes me feel like I am wasting my time, so I had to do something about my skills if I want to become the next great coder in my country and secure a higher place in the coding world to help out my family.

🤹‍♀️ mahlet's Hobbies

Coding is one of my hobbies but I am also a writer. I have written poetry and small stories of my own which are yet to be published. I also love spending time with my friends, watch movies, and also playing video games like PUBG.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
