Mariam's Story I found my interest in computers when I made a Cinderella game with the help of my brother. I made the game on Scratch and the script was from Cindrella’s animation where she leaves the castle at 12:00 am and the prince runs after her. Ever since then, I have tried to learn more about computers and coding. I did some self learning starting with C and C++ and I also made a basic website learning HTML and CSS. My interest in CS runs deep and I feel the connectivity should be made between CS and the medical field. I am enthusiastic about building real world machines that can make unmatched developments in medicine and bring unbelievable experience of life to people with special needs. Making accurate diagnosis, bringing accessibility to people with special needs with the help of CS and AI is what I want to do in future.

🙋‍♀️ Mariam's Motivation

The excitement of solving problems, the drive to develop in my career, and the desire to work on meaningful projects are some of the reasons I want to learn to code. My curiosity and resolve to learn more about coding may be stoked by the difficulty of solving difficult tasks and the gratification that comes from doing so. Practical incentives are further enhanced by the prospect of improved career opportunities and financial security in the technology-driven labor market. In the end, I am driven by a combination of intellectual curiosity, a desire for both professional and personal development, and a desire to have an impact on the digital world.

🤹‍♀️ Mariam's Hobbies

I like to watch movies when I am free. I am interested in horror/thriller genre. I love to watch both English and non- English movies. I am also a fan of Korean film industry and music and I often listen to K pop music in my free time. I also love to cook and bake. My favorite thing to bake is cake and Afghan naan ( bread). Cooking gives me peace and makes me feel happy because my family appreciates my cooking skills.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
