Mary's Story My dedication to coding has motivated me to actively seek out opportunities for learning and community engagement. I eagerly joined "Code with Girls," a platform committed to advancing coding education for girls, fostering inclusivity, and empowering individuals to pursue careers in the tech industry. By participating in this initiative, I have had the privilege of connecting with like-minded peers and mentors, thereby enriching my coding journey. In addition to my involvement in Code with Girls, I am currently a member of the Digital Egypt Cubs Initiative (DECI), where I am actively engaged in Level One to enhance my digital skills. DECI provides me with a valuable opportunity to expand my understanding of technology and contribute to the promotion of digital literacy within my local community. These experiences not only allow me to hone my technical abilities but also instill in me a sense of duty to leverage technology for positive change. I am driven by the belief that by equipping myself with coding skills and actively participating in programs like DECI, I can play a significant role in shaping the digital landscape of tomorrow.

I am driven to learn how to code with SheCodes because I want to improve my career prospects and expand my skill set. In today's digital age, coding proficiency is highly valued in many industries, offering opportunities for growth and innovation. By acquiring coding skills through SheCodes, I aim to position myself competitively in the job market and pursue fulfilling career paths that align with my interests and goals. Additionally, I view coding as a gateway to creativity and problem-solving. The ability to create websites, develop applications, and automate tasks not only allows me to contribute more effectively in my current role but also opens doors to exciting new projects and ventures. Proficient in the art of drawing, specializing in capturing the intricacies of faces, people, and nature through watercolor painting. - Accomplished the brown belt in karate, showcasing dedication and discipline in martial arts. - Showcased remarkable talent in sports by becoming a champion in the first two Republic's championships, earning a bronze medal in both 2022 and 2023 Engages as an active member of Scouts, earning badges in various fields such as paramedics, pioneers, authors, campers, secretaries, handicrafts, and paintings. Actively participated in the school sports league, where my team emerged victorious with a resounding 3-0 win against older opponents, showcasing our dedication and teamwork.

Mary's coding training

Mary has gained access to SheCodes Plus for at no cost. It’s a 4 month coding training that’ll take her from a beginner to a professional.

She'll learn popular technologies, from HTML, CSS, JavaScript and development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
