Nompumelelo's Story I discovered my interest in coding when a friend introduced me to it. Coming from a background in the commerce industry, I initially believed my role in tech was limited. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find numerous roles that blend both technology and commerce. This realization sparked my enthusiasm for coding as I saw how it could intertwine with my passion for commerce, opening up a world of possibilities. My exposure to the R language so far has further fueled my desire to delve deeper into the intersection of technology and commerce.

🙋‍♀️ Nompumelelo's Motivation

It is evident that SheCodes Foundation is a platform that acknowledges the necessity of upskilling females in the software engineering industry, an arena traditionally dominated by males. I am enthusiastic about being a part of an initiative that offers skills to enhance and awaken new career opportunities for females. Therefore, I am eager to contribute my skills and passion to the noble cause of SheCodes Foundation champions. Aspiring to work as a business analyst, a field that increasingly requires proficiency in coding languages, I am drawn to SheCodes for its recognition of the importance of providing women like myself such an opportunity. The prospect of learning coding through SheCodes is particularly motivating for me, as it aligns perfectly with my career aspirations. Knowing that I have the support of a community of women and an institution that believes in my capabilities will undoubtedly inspire me to excel.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
