NTHABELENG MARY's Story I've always been curious as to how computers work, how it's possible for a command to be sent in seconds by pressing a button on a laptop. A family friend is working as a software engineer and seeing her always engrossed in her computer and dedicated to her job made me fall in love with coding more.

🙋‍♀️ NTHABELENG MARY's Motivation

In our economy it's mandatory to have more than one skill. And I'm interested in the tech industry and coding. I received recommendations to start with SheCodes. I did my research and got in contact with SheCodes alumnis. I am certain that SheCodes with my hardwork as well will teach me the necessary skill that I need.

🤹‍♀️ NTHABELENG MARY's Hobbies

I am an introvert, sometimes so staying in my room reading books , watching series and trying out a new recipe is my typical day. I also like to go out with my friends to try out new restaurants. Spending time with my family, cooking for them and playing board games is more than fun and what I love to do as well.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
