Ramona's Story I first became interested in coding during my high school years when I joined the Tech and Robotics club. It was a pivotal moment that ignited my passion for technology and programming. Being a part of the club exposed me to a dynamic world where innovation and creativity thrived. I vividly remember our first coding project, a simple game, and the sense of accomplishment that came with making a computer do exactly what I wanted. That feeling was addictive. It was like having a superpower to bring ideas to life. What truly convinced me was the practical application of coding. We designed and programmed robots, creating machines that could navigate mazes or perform tasks autonomously. It was mind-boggling to see lines of code translate into real-world actions. This experience revealed the limitless potential of coding. I realized that it wasn't just about computers; it was about solving problems, improving processes, and making a difference in the world. Whether it's automating routine tasks, building cutting-edge software, or even contributing to scientific research, coding is a tool for positive change. That initial exposure to coding in the Tech and Robotics club left an indelible mark on me, inspiring my career aspirations and a deep-seated fascination with the digital realm. It's a journey that continues to evolve, and I'm excited to explore it further with organizations like SheCodes.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
