REDIET's Story Through my high school years, I had a glimpse of the concept of coding. I took IT classes and had the opportunity to know the bare minimum on the basics of coding and it still fascinates me on how much a skilled human and a working computer can do. so, I always dreamed to know more on the field of coding and incorporate this magnificent skill along with my medical background to improve the health service in Ethiopia.

🙋‍♀️ REDIET's Motivation

There are two reasons why I want to learn coding one is curiosity, and the other is to create solution. Currently I am a third-year medical student at TASH, AAU, Ethiopia. Going around in Tikur- Anbessa hospital I have noticed many problems that could easily be solved with some technological interventions yet degrading the quality of service provided. And I want to challenge myself in to becoming part of the solution. Moreover in this era of technology, it is mandatory to have all rounded skills. I believe the knowledge coding is one of the most basic requirements to have a better job opportunity plus to serve your community well. In addition to this i want challenge myself and see how much i could withstand. In medical field there a concept called neural plasticity which basically is about how your brain function according to the workload you put it through and how your brain has the ability to rewire and reorganize its function. so, I want to put myself through learning new things and quiz myself inquisitively.

🤹‍♀️ REDIET's Hobbies

usually, I watch news I quit enjoy politics. I like to read Amharic fiction books by the way we really do have epic authors here in Ethiopia. I also love to chat with friends on some topics and watch movies. plus, I prefer to look in to the biography of heroic peoples and I enjoy watching historical documentaries.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
