Rezi's Story I was first introduced to coding in my first year of a now-abandoned college program. The language I was taught at the time was Python which I now know is a great beginner coding language due to its easy syntax. We worked with lists, arrays, and other data structures on a beginner level as well as a bit of object-oriented programming. Unfortunately being a back-end coding language I was never able to make any projects that I was able to show visually but I did learn about the processes that go into making your applications work, I would love the opportunity to learn more second one day combined front end and back end to develop full stack projects.

🙋‍♀️ Rezi's Motivation

I was enrolled in a computer science program for a year but due to financial reasons, I was not able to keep up with tuition so I am not currently enrolled in school anymore. during the time I was enrolled in school, I learned a little bit about languages like Java and Python but I'm yet to learn any front-end languages such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks. I have a large interest in coding and want to be able to create full-stack projects that prepare me for a real software engineering job. I have loved self-learning but I cannot underestimate the benefits of a guided coding program such as the ones taught in schools or your program, I feel that working with your program will give me the guidance and accountability needed to help me advance my coding skills and can't wait to start.

🤹‍♀️ Rezi's Hobbies

I like to do a couple of physical things such as jumping rope and going skating, I also love to bake(I make an amazing chocolate cake) I have an interest in ceramics as well although I haven't devoted much focus to that due to costs but it is something I would like to develop in the future. Lastly, I love to do hair so I'm able to braid my hair and that of friends and family. I try to balance my hobbies so that some require a bit more physical labor, some require a bit more creativity and some just help me to relax and destress, having well-rounded hobbies is important to have a great social and work-life balance.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
