Sara's Story My interest in the computer science and coding field started with my journey to deal with myfears, including the fear of spoiling anything or any machine, and this was what prevented me from using many things that I wanted very much to use, and among these things was the computer. Ifound computers difficult to use, so I did not want to use them despite my intense curiosity about using them. My start studying in the preparatory school was like a break for my mind. It made me think well about everything and discuss with myself my fears and how to overcome them. Hence, I decided that I wanted to be proficient in using the computer. So I started learning to use a computer from scratch, so I started listening to videos on YouTube and applying everything in them to my computer. After that, I started learning about the fields of computer science, and then I started learning C++ programming language to participate in the coming programming contests.

🙋‍♀️ Sara's Motivation

Joining the Shecodes workshop would be like launching myself into a world of collaboration and innovation because, as a girl who lives in small villages, there is no access to opportunities related to technology or STEM in general, especially for girls, because being a girl who has passion and is ambitious to be a successful and independent person isn't a common thing in my village. I hope that my participation in the workshop will aspire me to enhance my proficiency in coding languages and embracing the power to transform ideas into solutions, which will enhance my ability to work on projects that help solve real-life problems. Additionally, my participation in this virtual workshop will increase my online communication skills and increase my confidence by engaging in program activities and discussing my ideas in the sessions.

🤹‍♀️ Sara's Hobbies

Drawing and art in general constitute a large part of my personality. I started drawing three years ago, and many people used to say that drawing is an innate talent, but I was aware that this concept was wrong, so I started learning and practicing it on a daily basis to develop my skill in it. That is why I created a blog on Instagram to help everyone who practices any type of art show people their art and publish it without fear, hesitation, or lack of confidence in their talent.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
