Shafeeka's Story I have always been interested in tech. And now that I have children and I understand the dangers of cyberspace, I have developed an interest in cyber security. While it's possible to work in cybersecurity without knowing a programming language, knowledge of Python (or a similar language) greatly expands a professional's capabilities and effectiveness. I am a firm believer in expanding my knowledge base and learning to code will be a huge advantage to me.

🙋‍♀️ Shafeeka's Motivation

I would like to explore a career in the tech industry. Coding is also a fun way of bringing ideas to life. If I can code, I can create websites, apps, games and so much more. It's also a great way to learn logical thinking and problem solving which are great skills for anyone to acquire. I would also be able to give my family a better life than I can currently afford. As women have opportunities with technology, they are able to gain access to information, learn, and make decisions that overcome social, political, and economic obstacles.

🤹‍♀️ Shafeeka's Hobbies

In my spare time I like to read, hike and to cook. I enjoy anything that leads to self development and self improvement.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
