Sibongile's Story I was always interested in coding from a young age, I am always curious about how to develop applications and fix bugs, and working in different companies allowed me to have an insight into the complex world. I always enjoyed problem-solving and the fun of my inquisitive nature to a knack for solving puzzles or taking things apart may be drawn to the logical and problem-solving aspects of coding. My brother is a software engineer whenever I had a problem with my computer he would give half guidelines on how to fix my problem the rest I had to figure it myself, I used to enjoy fixing to the point where I rendered my services to people around the community.

🙋‍♀️ Sibongile's Motivation

From an early age, I have been curious about the airwaves of the internet, and how you can send files using wireless connections. I always wanted to build websites and design the backend while learning all the coding languages. With coding abilities, I can turn innovative ideas into real software products, apps, or tech startups from the ground up. This will help me to bridge the gap in the market and offer more services. Shecodes is the perfect academy for me to learn coding skills, these skills will help me diversify my marketing degree set myself apart from other candidates and be compensated enough for my skills.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
