Tshepiso's Story I first got interested in coding when things in my life headed downhill! I remember this one time heading to a institution to enroll for an “affordable” course, I initially opted for anything in IT as it has a better job market than any other but got discouraged and degraded by a male personnel who simply told me that coding wasn’t meant for women! And just like that, I just wanted to prove myself wrong and anyone who thought that women are also capable and have, pardon my language, “balls” just as men do!

🙋‍♀️ Tshepiso's Motivation

I enjoy solving mathematical problems and I think programming is very similar. I absolutely have no idea about what coding is but just the fascination, adrenaline and can-do attitude of trying to figure it out. The harder the problem is, the more interested and motivated I am, I just cant stop until I solve It!

🤹‍♀️ Tshepiso's Hobbies

Some of my hobbies include: - Playing netball during weekdays, Wednesdays to be precise. - On Sundays, it’s church and book club sorority meetings.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
