Vivian's Story My initial interest in coding was sparked during high school, where I had the opportunity to take basic coding courses. I found the logical structure and problem-solving aspects of coding not only easy to understand but also deeply engaging. This early exposure led me to pursue a career in Computer Science at the university level. However, the demanding nature of the program, coupled with my need to work full-time to support my family, eventually led me to withdraw from the course. Despite this, my fascination with technology and coding remained. This foundation in coding, combined with my logical mindset and enjoyment of technological interaction, has continued to influence my career path and aspirations. I see coding as a powerful tool that not only offers creative solutions to complex problems but also opens up a myriad of opportunities in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

🙋‍♀️ Vivian's Motivation

My motivation to learn coding with SheCodes stems from my desire for better career opportunities and to be part of the fastest-growing industry today. I've always been more comfortable and interested in technology than in interpersonal interactions. Currently working in customer-facing tech roles, I aim to shift towards a more technical focus. My logical nature and enjoyment in solving complex problems make programming an ideal path for me. I view coding not just as a technical skill but as a creative expression, allowing me to innovate and contribute meaningfully in any field I choose. This shift aligns with my passion for continuous learning and a deep curiosity about how things work.

🤹‍♀️ Vivian's Hobbies

Some of my hobbies include learning new things, especially topics related to communication and human behavior. I find immense joy in reading and value spending quality time with my friends and family. I have a deep affection for pets and enjoy the vibrant energy of dancing. Additionally, my interests extend to finance, travel and exploration, savoring various cuisines as a food enthusiast, and appreciating the serenity of nature and forests. My hobbies are reflective of my curious and adventurous spirit, as well as my commitment to understanding and engaging with the world around me in meaningful ways.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
