Yin Yin's Story The first time I knew the programming language was in my second year at my previous university, and I learned it from the academic C programming book, which has boring theories and long paragraphs, not typing on a computer. I have to admit that I was totally uninterested in programming languages at first. Fortunately, I was curious to join the intensive coding camp called First Step in Coding. Then, doing challenges related to the lessons and learning with fun games in that camp changed my distorted belief and developed my interest in studying programming languages and enthusiasm to learn more in the future. Additionally, I found my curiosity in coding thanks to the free coding class with SheCodes. In conclusion, my previous basic experiences in coding compelled me to maintain my desire to learn how to code with SheCodes.

🙋‍♀️ Yin Yin's Motivation

As an engineering student, coding is a crucial skill to keep up with my friends in my school, and being proficient in coding will help me work on group projects, and learning programming languages will improve my critical thinking skills. Additionally, IT jobs can earn a higher salary than other jobs in the age of technology. Similarly, after my graduation, having the knowledge and skills to code will provide me with better opportunities in white-collar jobs. Particularly since my career goal is to work in a steady job with my passionate career, I am always motivated to fulfill the knowledge and skills in coding I need for my career goal.

🤹‍♀️ Yin Yin's Hobbies

In my spare time, I love reading books, especially detective stories and fiction. In the past, I used to read detective stories about Sherlock Holmes, featuring mystery. I sometimes read romantic stories written by Burmese authors. Another hobby that I love doing is cooking meals for my beloved individuals.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
