Zahra's Story I first became interested in coding during my teenage years when I discovered the power and creativity it offered. It all started with a desire to customize my Myspace page, which led me to learn HTML and CSS. As I delved deeper, I realized coding was more than just styling web pages; it was a gateway to building anything imaginable. The idea of creating software that could solve problems and bring ideas to life fascinated me. I began exploring programming languages like JavaScript and Python, experimenting with small projects and gradually increasing their complexity. The sense of accomplishment when I successfully executed a piece of code was addictive. Moreover, witnessing how technology could positively impact people's lives further fueled my passion for coding. Whether it was developing a simple game or automating tasks, each project taught me something new and kept me engaged. Since then, my interest in coding has only grown stronger, propelling me to pursue further education and a career in the field.

Coding allows me to solve problems in creative and efficient ways. It’s like having a superpower to automate tasks and build solutions to real-world problems. Coding is a skill that constantly evolves, which means there’s always something new to learn. For many people, the challenge of mastering new concepts and technologies is a motivating factor in itself.

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
