Mide's Story “Tech is Nigeria’s new oil”. Anybody that has been around long enough will see how widespread the impact of technology, specifically coding has become in Nigeria. It is hard to not be interested in something that empowers as many Nigerians as possible.

🙋‍♀️ Mide's Motivation

Women looking to get into tech spaces are often disproportionately sidelined. Not only are your male counterparts looking to harass and sideline you, it feels like a lone part because they are only few women in these spaces. (At least in this part of the country) SheCodes is a foundation that empowers women, more so women in developing countries. There is nothing more motivating and helpful than a team of women holding another woman up.

🤹‍♀️ Mide's Hobbies

I find solace in reading, I can get lost in a good book. I also love writing, especially about my experiences as a young Nigerian woman.

🎯

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
