Ololade's Story I first become interested when there was a lot of buzz on coding and “tech” generally on social media, especially on Twitter, and that was 2020, during the peak of the pandemic and a lot of people were home and had more free timeouts their hands than usual which enabled them to pay more attention to the tech industry . Although it has always just been a thought of mine and I never really paid attention to it and I never really decide to work on it, not until recently when a classmate of Mine mentioned shecodes how much she has been able to learn within a short period of time and how it has also been stress-free because of how easy it has been laid out for people with no prior knowledge to coding or in the tech industry. My interest become heightened when I found out that she codes offers different varieties and issues free certificates to people at the end of every course taken on the platform and we can also take the courses at my own convenience without it interrupting my daily activities or taking soo much of our time. Subsequently, part of my New Years resolution is to be intentional about my life choices and putting my time into things that would yield good results, and joining the tech industry by learning how to code is something I know can beneficial to me in the long run and allow me enter a new world endless of opportunities .

🙋‍♀️ Ololade's Motivation

We are constantly evolving and the world is moving towards a global institution, shecodes provides an opportunity for young people, especially young women, like me, who is trying to improve her skill set and acquire something more outside my school degree. I was particularly more interested when I found out shecodes caters mainly to women and gives them a chance to be in the tech industry and tries to fill in the gap in the industry that is mostly male dominated. I recently had a conversation with a friend that said she started coding during the holiday and has now learnt a lot of things and everything has been free so far, she even also added that it is not as difficult as the way people have made it to look like, after our conversation that day, I took it upon myself to learn and join shecodes, since every step and process have been made easy and straightforward to learn for beginners like me. In addition, I personally would love to know how to code because it is something I have always wanted to do but I have never had the chance to figure it out and this would be the perfect opportunity for me to kickstart my journey and having something doing before school finishes, I love a good challenge and it keeps me occupied and busy. I am an anthropology student in the university of Ibadan and would love to see how I can infuse coding to my degree after school and earn from both industry.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
