Alona's Story Having a career in advertising, I was satisfied with my life in Ukraine (Dnipro). My friend started learning programming, but I didn't think I could do the same. I mean, I didn't consider it for myself until I somehow tried it myself. It was getting too interesting for me. I discovered the following factors: testing is not my thing; back end is not mine. I got a kick out of the coding process when I get to create something! When I see the result when there was nothing and I created it! I like to do something to see the result. Creating is a genuine feeling of happiness.

🙋‍♀️ Alona's Motivation

Just before coming to the USA, I started learning programming on my own from various sources. I didn't expect the war to push me away from coding so much that I stopped doing it. I want to come back because I am motivated by the large female community and I heard that the teaching of the material at this school is excellent! It is very important for me to start a new page in my life. Currently, I want to do more and have a decent life using my opportunities, skills and acquired knowledge.

🤹‍♀️ Alona's Hobbies

I am a creative person, and for the most part, I do something that has a visible result. I am learning to play the piano, I like to sew, edit music videos, sing, play badminton and I do fitness.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
